Martinelli Luce is attending the IMM Cologne to launch a 2017 that promises to be dense with new presences at Fairs and events of international standing. At the Cologne event, one of the most important appointments of the year, a new version of the Pipistrello lamp will be presented, as well as new colours in the Elmetto lamp and a range of the most recent elements of the Martinelli Luce production. One of the 2017 novelties is the table lamp version of Pipistrello, which retains all its original charisma while being restyled in a size perfect for lighting desks and work stations. Another lamp destined to become a contemporary “classic” is the Elica by Brian Sironi, which won the Compasso d’Oro award in 2011. With a unique and ingenious on/off movement and direction of the light source, Elica is made in two sizes. The striking Fluida lamp by Studio Natural won a special mention at the Compasso d’Oro in 2016. Enhancing any setting it is placed in, this extraordinary lamp never ceases to amaze in terms of the innumerable forms enabled by its flexibility. Hoop by Adolini+Simonini Associati – an Italian/Brazilian duo which has been collaborating with Martinelli Luce for some time – is instead an example of clean lines and versatility of use, with a spirit as youthful as the two designers who conceived and designed it. Another icon of contemporary design is Cyborg by Karim Rashid: a strong sign that expresses all the creativity of its designer and lights up with the gentle sweetness of a caress. Studio Natural’s LED+O is evidence of the research applied by Martinelli Luce to the use of LEDs in wall lamps, expressed through an essential design that preserves intact the suggestion of the form. The Calabrone, in both hanging lamp and floor lamp versions (designed by Emiliana Martinelli), which won the IF design award 2016, conceals technology and functionality within its aesthetic simplicity. The “right” light for every occasion, with LED sources equipped with interchangeable lenses that permit light beams of different amplitude. The hanging lamp sector features three models guaranteed to captivate the attention of the observer: Marc Sadler’s iconic Babele and two designs by Emiliana Martinelli: the magical Lunaop (IF product design award 2015), the essential Maggiolone. Elmetto is an adjustable-beam table lamp, small but oozing with character, which has been in the Martinelli catalogue for many years. Already presented in various colours, for its 40th anniversary in 2017 it has been produced in ruby red, pastel blue and baby pink versions. Finally, then, there are the outdoor lamps. This is a constantly-growing sector of lighting design in which Martinelli Luce expresses all its new creativity in the juicy project of Ciulifruli (5+1AA Alfonso Femia and Emiliana Martinelli) with polythene lamps in different shapes and bright and vibrant colours: an ever-evolving game.
